New Changes: Book Update

Hello Groovy People.

Over the past few weeks, I have thought about what to do with my novel, Journey’s End.  I really want to publish it and have it be polished.  However, it has been a struggle to find a job, and hold on to the money I saved.  I am doing a second edit at this time to make it presentable.  I hope to find a real editor, but for now, these are my options.  I have also found a website that will publish my book.  I am also working with an artist to work on the cover.

For the past few weeks, I have gone through bouts of sadness.  I feel like my life is awful and lacking since I left Japan.  I am not as happy as I was then, and it has distracted me from what I truly want.  I came back to America to be an author.  I have now refocused and ready to make changes.  I also need to focus on the good things and accomplishments.  I am happy to say that I will make an effort to make this dream come true.

I will keep you posted!  Until then….

Kickstarter is Live!

Hello groovy people.  After a long year, my book is finally finished, edited, and ready to publish.  However, being a self published author is tough.  I made a kickstarter to raise funds so I can use Lulu.com to help me bring the book to the public.  Please go to the link to check it out.

There’s no pressure to pledge money.  However, if you’re feeling generous, or know someone else who has spare coins, please feel free to support.

Editing and Editing/ Fabulous Dreams!

Hello Groovy People!

So now that I have completed my book, 23 days ago, I am in the process of editing it.  It is a long process because I have to reread everything.  I must pay close attention to my grammar, and all the other stuff.  I am not the best at editing, but I will try really hard.  I am happy that it is finished, and I’m almost done working in Japan.  It has been a long year.

Once I finish editing, I have to copyright my book.  So many parts, and so little time.  As tired as I am after work, I continue to edit at night.  Hopefully I can get a proofreader to edit my book too.

I have this great idea, where I sell my book on iBooks and Amazon.  Then maybe I can save money on printing.  Once I save more money, I can make physical copies.  My dad gave me a great idea of selling them at a book fair.  I can maybe buy a small space and sell it like a vendor.  The exposure could be good for me.

There are many options, but for now, I have to edit.  Uh, the lovely process of editing.

Till then groovy people.

I am finally finished! Book 3 is done!

Hello groovy people, I am finally done with my third novel.  I am now in the process of proofreading it, then I will copyright it.  After that I will find an editor to do a full edit.  Finally, I will try to open a kickstarter page to gather funds to self publish.  I wish I could let you know more about the book, but details have to be secret until it is copywritten.  I can tell you the title, Journey’s End.

So this book started in 2005 as an idea, and the process for completing it was long.  I mean I would start writing, originally in a journal, then stop.  Years went by and I started writing it again in 2008 through early 2009.  Then I stopped until the summer of 2015.  Then I stopped again!  Realizing I didn’t like the story, I revamped it by the end of 2015 and during the early part of 2016.  I took another break and started it in the summer of 2016.  So 12 years!  To be honest, most of my books take years to complete.  My biggest issue is that I make excuses as to why I can’t write.  I’m too tired, I’m too busy, I’m not inspired.  It is best, for me, to just write.  Once I start, I can’t stop.  Pushing myself even when I’m lazy is hard, but worth it.

I am excited to tell you more about the story, but till then stay tuned.

Chapter 14…Updates?

Hello,  I have been on Chapter 14 for a few months now.  In November I was not feeling so great, and put my writing on hold.  I decided to reread everything in December so that I could edit what I had thus far.

Luckily for me, I am back to writing.  The constant search for editors, publishers, and print presses, is long, but reassuring.  I am also planning on my departure from Japan for April of this year!  So yeah, I’m a little busy.

As much as I adore my students, I am happy to leave the company, and begin life as an author!  Unfortunately, I did not finish my book by January as I intended to.  However, this set back will not deter me from my goal.  I will continue to write, and work hard to publish in April.

I am also a scatter brained person, so I am having issues with the ending of my book.  I am not sure what direction to take it in, but I must push through.  Wish me luck, I’ll definitely, need it.

Update: Still Going Strong

Hello fellow readers.  I have been working on my novel for three months now and it’s going well!  I am currently on Chapter 10 and feel energized every week.  Every Sunday I wake up at 8am and go to my local bookstore.  There, I order a matcha frappuccino venti!  Yes, it is quite yummy.  Most of the time I just have that all morning.  I find a seat in the large seating area and get my things ready.  I put on my playlist to get into the mood for writing.  Then I let my imagination take me where it wants to go.  From 9am to 12pm I zone out and type away.

When I first thought about publishing my second novel, I procrastinated.  I always thought too much and made excuses as to why I couldn’t finish.  There was school, I had no drive, I had no money, blah blah blah.  Yet, now that I kicked myself into gear, I can’t stop myself.  I think all week about Sundays and what the future holds for my book.  I feel this surge of energy in writing.  As stated before, I am re-writing this book.  It is somewhat different than the first draft.

The very original idea for this book stemmed from a thought I had eleven years ago while I was a camp counselor sitting in the most boring class.  I was not particularly needed in this, reading class, so I let my mind drift.  The idea was a young girl running though the woods.  She was draped in long flowing fabric.  The idea then kept sprouting and did its own thing.  It actually built itself around that one thought.  That is how most of my stories begin.  A thought, a dream, or even a song can influence my work.

I am happy that I am re-writing my book.  It is stronger than it was before.  I am not saying it’s a best-seller, although that would be pretty sweet!  I am just saying that I have grown as a writer, albeit just a tad.  I am eager to finish in January so that I can copyright it and send it to an editor.   From there I’ll either self publish or find an agent.  Either way, 2017 is going to be my year!

Feeling Motivated! On Chapter 7

Setting of new book?

the planes of my creativity is endless

So in the past month, I’ve been writing in my novel.  I hope that my new found motivation to write weekly continues.  I have been inspired by listening to a playlist in my ipod.  It comprises of artists such as Kelis, Michael Jackson, Childish Gambino, BoA, Foo Fighters, Sade, Clipse, and a few others.

Music inspires me because it creates this feeling much like nostalgia.  It pushes my creativity and makes it flow.  I have been going to this wonderful place called Tsutaya in my town.  I get there early like 9am to beat the rush of people.  I get me a matcha frappuccino and sit in bliss.  The goal is 3 hours.  Last week I did two days back to back with 2 and a half hours each.  Today, I did 3 full hours!

The downside of this is sitting for so long.  If it weren’t for nerve issues within my back due to sitting too long then I would do about 5 hours!  I was really going today and felt great!  I notice that if I do this every week, then I could complete many chapters and make my goal of finishing by January!

I don’t want to push too hard as I don’t want garbage.  Quality is key and re-writing my novel proves to be beneficial to fleshing out the story and characters.

I’m eager to have it published by April of next year.  Then I can go back to my science fiction novel I started in 2005.  I also have a horror novel and science horror novel I want to write.  However, they must be on the shelf in my mind while I work on the current book.

I feel really good and unstoppable in my quest to accomplish my goals.  Please stay tuned! Once I finish my current book and copyrite it, you bet your bottom dollar that I will have a few chapter samples for you to read before the finished product comes out!
